Texas Filmmakers Showcase DVD

With all due respect to James Dean and the citizens of Marfa, there’s more to Texas film than Giant. The Texas Filmmaker’s Showcase promotes Texas movie production and spotlights regional talent by screening the best Texas movie shorts of the year. In 2004, Origin designed, produced, mastered and packaged the show’s DVD of the collected works—and created the invitations. Held in Hollywood, all Texas stars worth their bling were on hand to see our Texas-tough design.

The DVD sported all the show’s screenings, including works by Mike Woolf, Scott Rice and Chris Eska. It also included an Origin-designed intro piece that helped kick the show off right. And we designed everything from the packaging to the interface screens to have a Hollywood-jalepenorific Texas spice, blending elements of both the big screen and the biggest state in The Union. (Oh, come on—you’re gonna count Alaska? It’s melting.)

We made the CD’s content and interface robust enough to be worth hanging onto after the show—profiling each of the individual filmmakers with detailed bios, synopses of their showcased pieces and screenshots of their shorts (he he). Showcase attendees, participating filmmakers and the organizers at the Houston Film Commission put the spotlight on Origin Design giving the piece two thumbs up—even said it was better than Ishtar!
