Origin Gives Major Energy Consortium New Name, Identity

Origin Design renamed and re-branded the Petroleum Open Standards Consortium (POSC) as Energistics, bringing the not for profit’s identity more in line with its global prominence.

Energistics brings experts from different companies and disciplines together to solve the informational challenges that arise during the exploration and production of oil and gas. Its membership is composed of elite IT, mangement and engineering staff from companies such as ExxonMobil, Chevron, Shell, BP, Schlumberger and Halliburton.

The group enlisted Origin when it realized operational progress had outpaced marketing progress. After a thorough brand audit, Origin concepted and executed a total rebranding that included:

  • Renaming the organization
  • Changing how it explains what it does
  • Designing and programming a new website and html e-mail announcement
  • Designing a fresh logo, letterhead and other essentials
  • Providing the strategy that brings it all together

“Our members are the lead technical and financial people from the biggest companies in the world’s biggest industry,” said an Energistics representative. “This is a big and complicated affair. The design and technical stuff was great, but what Origin really brought was the leadership to see all the issues and make sure it all rolled out in a way that made sense for us and our membership.”
