John Tranmer has rejoined IIW, P.C. as Surveying Technical Specialist. He will be responsible for preparation, review, and modification of survey documents; performing calculations; and mentoring department staff. John’s project involvement will include boundary survey, ALTA survey, land subdivision, legal description, and construction layout.
John has over 35 years of experience in surveying and engineering-related projects for residential, commercial, and industrial developments. He began his career as a Survey Technician and Crew Chief, performing survey plats and topographic drafting. John worked for two surveying companies in the South, and later served as Survey Technician and Crew Chief for a county engineering department in Florida. John later joined IIW as Director of Surveying. He managed all survey-related projects, including many engineering projects, over a 20-year span. He supervised field crews and CAD technicians. During his time at IIW, John was known for his ability to manage people, projects, schedules, and budgets.
John’s areas of expertise includes calculations and adjustments of survey data for boundary determination, topographic and aerial control survey data reduction, preparation of land title surveys, subdivision and survey plats, and legal descriptions. He also is well-versed on the research of public and private records, and coordination and layout for construction surveys.
John has a Bachelor of Science degree in Surveying from Iowa State University.
