Due to concerns over an intersection with high truck traffic, the City of Dyersville sought Origin Design’s help with the reconstruction of the intersection of Hwy 20 and X49.

The intersection & roadway serves multiple construction companies, an ethanol plant and a concrete plant resulting in a high percentage of truck traffic.

Origin Design developed multiple solutions for the intersection reconstruction and worked with local business owners and the public to get input, determining a roundabout was the best solution. The project consisted of a ½ mile of roadway construction and the conversion of a 4-way stop intersection to an intersection controlled by a roundabout. The roadway was widened, and paved shoulders were added on each side.

Due to the type of businesses served by the intersection & roadway, turning templates for special vehicles were examined during the design of the roundabout to ensure necessary equipment could travel through the roundabout.

Origin Design assisted the City of Dyersville in obtaining a grant from the Iowa DOT for the project.

Following construction of the project, the new interchange became a primary route into downtown Dyersville.

We’re still buzzing from last week’s Chamber Business After Hours!

Thank you to everyone who came, connected, shared ideas, and tested out the VR simulator. We enjoyed hosting you!

At Origin Design, we believe every project teaches us something valuable. That’s why we hold an annual “Lessons Learned” discussion!

Virtually bringing together our Dubuque, Davenport, and remote employees, this open forum is all about sharing experiences, both wins and challenges, so our team can grow together. By learning from each other, we can improve processes and move forward smarter and stronger. Here are just a few of the 41 employees that were able to attend this valuable conversation.
