Flexsteel Industries spent more than 80 years at its Jackson Street Manufacturing Facility in Dubuque, Iowa.
Knowing the facility had outlived its life, company leaders announced they would close the facility and build a new $25 million, 250,000-square-foot-facility in the Dubuque Industrial Center South.
project overview
Not only would they be gaining a modern, more efficient facility, they would be retaining more than 200 jobs in the community.
Due to the size and schedule of the project, there were seven separate bid packages. This required additional coordination—some equipment had to be ordered before the building design was completed to meet the aggressive construction schedule. In addition, some of the heavy manufacturing equipment required special isolated foundations.
Origin Design provided architectural, structural engineering, civil engineering, land survey, and construction testing and inspection services for the project.
